Where you’ll be
The gite is an old workers cottage that has been renovated with a comfortable and homely feel with tasteful décor and has all the mod cons you would expect from your holiday home. Le Pommier is a self-catering gite that can comfortably sleep up to 9 people within five good sized bedrooms and is ideal for a large family or 2 families looking to enjoy a relaxed and peaceful holiday. Both gites are non-smoking.
The gite is attached to another gite, with both properties set within the grounds opposite the owner’s house. The gite is set out over two levels with two toilets and two shower rooms. On the ground floor there is an open plan kitchen/dining area with a pellet burner heater, Smart TV and a dining table and chairs that seats up to 10 making it a sociable space to cook and dine together. The toilet, shower room and downstairs bedrooms all lead off from this space along with access to the rear terrace and pool area. The bedrooms consist of a twin bedroom with 2 single beds and a double bedroom.
The first floor consists of a large lounge area with a large corner sofa, three comfortable Scandinavian style chairs and TV. The bedrooms, shower room and toilet all lead off from this space. There is a twin bedroom with 2 single beds and a double bedroom and a single bedroom.
Outdoor area for both gites: There is a 13m x 5m shared heated swimming pool at the rear of the gites for use by gite residents only and not accessed by the owners. There are sun loungers and parasols around the pool. By the pool is a gravel area that could be used for playing boules and there is a covered area for playing badminton and ping pong, all free of charge. There is a terraced area with table and chairs and a BBQ for outdoor dining for each gite with parasols.
The gite consists of :
• 2 king size beds and 2 twin bedrooms (four single beds) and a single bedroom, each room has a large floor standing fan, bedside tables and wardrobe.
• Bedlinen is provided at the start of your stay.
• Towels for the bathroom are provided at the start of your stay. Pool towels are not provided, please supply your own.
• 2 separate WC with toilet paper provided for your duration of your stay.
• Washing machine with washing liquid (ecological products will be provided where possible). Tablets will be provided as part of your welcome pack to get you started.
• 2 shower rooms with toiletries and cleaning products (ecological products will provided where possible).
• Clothes airer.
• Iron and ironing board.
• Vacuum cleaner, bucket and mop.
• 2 hairdryers are provided within the property.
• Kitchen/diner dining table and pellet wood burner and smart TV.
• Table linen and tea towels are provided.
• Lounge with corner sofa, 3 high backed Scandinavian style chairs and TV.
• The fully equipped kitchen comprises of an electric oven, 4 burner gas hob, microwave, dishwasher with tablets provided coffee-machine, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, hand blender, crockery and utensils supplied.
• The house has gas central heating (only during winter season).
• Free on-site parking next to the accommodation.
• High chair and travel cot available on request.
• Free Wi-Fi and tv that you can connect to your own streaming service account.
• Heated swimming pool (13m x 5m) shared between both gites and surrounding area with plenty of sun loungers. Pool towels are not provided, please supply your own.
• A terraced dining space at the rear of the gite with BBQ and table and chairs and sun parasol.
• Free ping pong and badminton (equipment provided) around the pool area.
• Pets not allowed.
• No smoking is permitted in the gite or pool area.
We provide you with a welcome pack which includes a supply of fresh milk, tea/coffee, bread, washing liquid and some laundry tablets and beer/wine to get you started.
Unfortunately we do not have disabled access.
A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required by bank transfer in order to secure the booking. The remaining balance is to be paid in full 8 weeks prior to arrival. All payments to be made in Euros by bank transfer. Details provided on booking request.
A security deposit of €250 is payable as a separate bank transfer 1 week prior to arrival.This deposit will be refunded within 14 days in full by bank transfer provided no damage or breakages are discovered within a week of departure. We understand that accidents can happen so ask that you notify us in the event of any breakages so we can rectify this before the arrival of our next guests.

Places to visit:
Bordeaux cosmopolitan city (approx. 1 hour drive) – Beautiful buildings, vast shopping areas, riverside bars and restaurants, Citi Du Vin museum, lots of sightseeing.
Saint-Emilion (45 mins drive) – Medieval village that is part of the World Heritage site, wonderful views across the valley, bars and restaurants in the heart of wine country.
Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne (30 mins drive) - voted one of the most beautiful villages in France with stunning views across the valley. A lovely tree covered square surrounded by bars and restaurants. It also has a subterranean monolithic church open all year round.
Angouleme (55 min drive) – An attractive and lively city famous for its international Comic Book Festival held every January and the classic car race the “Circuit des Ramparts” held every September. You can wander through the streets and see if you can find the twenty-odd painted walls of street art dotted throughout the city.
Cognac (approx. 1 hour drive) – A medieval city renowned for its production of Cognac. There are many distilleries to visit as well as bars and restaurants.
Bergerac (approx. 1 hour drive) – A city full of half timber houses, medieval streets and historic alleys and lively squares situated on the banks of the Dordogne river. A treat for those wine and culture lovers.
Perigueux
(approx.. 1 hour drive) – A city full of Medieval and Renaissance architecture full of alleyways and narrow streets to explore.
Neighborhood
The village of Parcoul offers a bar/restaurant, tabac and a butcher. The village of La Roche-Chalais is a 10 minute drive from the property and has a bar, a restaurant, an Intermarche supermarket and Aldi shop, butchers, pharmacy, bakery, tabac, post office with ATM machines.
Things to do:
• River beach at Saint-Aulaye (20 mins drive) – sandy beach to swim, La Plage restaurant and snack bar. Double Accro tree climbing on zip lines for all ages from 3 years old and over. Booking recommended.
• River beach at Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne (30 mins drive) – sandy beach to swim, canoe and pedalo hire, restaurant and snack bar.
• Monolithic church at Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne.
• Canoeing at Parcoul Canoe (5 mins drive) – canoe hire available between June and September, booking essential. May not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
• Cycling – routes across the region for all abilities (marked at VTT – velo tout terrain).
• Walking – routes across the region for all abilities.
• Go Karting – Circuit de Haute Saintonge at La Genotouze (20 mins drive) – seasonal opening hours, recommend checking website for availability and booking. There are also other events happening on the race track that you may be able to go along and watch.
• Archery – Dordogne Archery at Saint-Martial-Viveyrol (40 minutes drive).
• Beauvallon near Montguyon (30 mins drive) – sandy beach, pedalo hire, bar and restaurant.
