Where you’ll be
The gite is an old workers cottage that has been renovated with a comfortable and contemporary feel with tasteful decor and has all the mod cons you would expect from your holiday home. Le Petite Pommier is a self-catering gite that can comfortably sleep up to 6 people within three good sized bedrooms and is ideal for a family looking to enjoy a relaxed and peaceful holiday. Please note all our gites are non-smoking. Designated areas for smoking will be set out in the customer information folder.
The gite is set out all on one level on the ground floor with an open plan living area that contains a lounge area with a sofa and two comfortable Scandinavian style chairs arranged around the wood burning stove and TV. The dining space has a dining table for 6 people opposite the fully equipped kitchen area, making it a sociable space to cook and dine together. The bedrooms, shower room and toilet all lead off from this space.
The gite is attached to the second gite (Le Pommier).
There is a 13m x 5m shared heated swimming pool at the rear of the gites for use by guests only and not accessed by the owners. Also by the pool is an area for playing boules and a covered space for playing badminton and ping pong.
The gite consists of:
• 1 kingsize bed and 2 twin bedrooms (four single beds), each room has a large fan, bedside tables and wardrobe.
• Bedlinen is provided at the start of your stay.
• 1 separate WC with toilet paper provided for the duration of your stay that is suitable for the fosse septic.
• 1 shower room with ecological toiletries and cleaning products (ecological where possible).
• Washing machine with ecological washing liquid (where possible). Tablets will be provided in your welcome pack to get you started.
• Towels for bathroom use are provided at the start of your stay. Pools towels are not provided, please supply your own.
• Clothes airer.
• Iron and ironing board.
• Vacuum cleaner, bucket and mop.
•2 Hairdryers are provided within the property.
• Kitchen/lounge/diner with a sofa, 2 high backed chairs, dining table and woodburner (wood is provided for the duration of your stay).
• Table linen is provided and tea towels are provided.
• The fully equipped kitchen comprises of an electric oven, 4 burner gas hob, microwave, dishwasher with ecological tablets provided, coffee machine, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, crockery and utensils supplied.
• The house has air-source central heating and controlled mechanical ventilation (VMC).
• Free on-site parking next to the accommodation.
• High chair and travel cot available on request.
• Free wifi and tv that you can connect to your own streaming service account.
• Shared heated swimming pool (13m x 5m) and surrounding area with plenty of sun loungers and parasols. Please note that pool towels are not provided please supply your own.
• Terrace at rear with bbq, table and chairs and parasol, with access to the pool, covered badminton area and ping pong.
• Free use of facilities around pool area – badminton net, ping pong, boules.
• Pets not allowed.
We provide you with a welcome pack which includes a supply of fresh milk, tea/coffee, bread, washing liquid and some laundry tablets and beer/wine to get you started.
Unfortunately we do not have disabled access.
A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required by bank transfer in order to secure the booking. The remaining balance is to be paid in full 8 weeks prior to arrival. All payments to be made in Euros by bank transfer. Details provided on booking request.
A security deposit of €250 is payable as a separate bank transfer 1 week prior to arrival.This deposit will be refunded within 14 days in full by bank transfer provided no damage or breakages are discovered within a week of departure. We understand that accidents can happen so ask that you notify us in the event of any breakages so we can rectify this before the arrival of our next guests.
We provide you with a welcome pack which includes a supply of fresh milk, tea/coffee, bread and beer/wine to get you started.

Places to visit:
Bordeaux cosmopolitan city (approx. 1 hour drive) – Beautiful buildings, vast shopping areas, riverside bars and restaurants, Citi Du Vin museum, lots of sightseeing.
Saint-Emilion (45 mins drive) – Medieval village that is part of the World Heritage site, wonderful views across the valley, bars and restaurants in the heart of wine country.
Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne (30 mins drive) - voted one of the most beautiful villages in France with stunning views across the valley. A lovely tree covered square surrounded by bars and restaurants. It also has a subterranean monolithic church open all year round.
Angouleme (55 min drive) – An attractive and lively city famous for its international Comic Book Festival held every January and the classic car race the “Circuit des Ramparts” held every September. You can wander through the streets and see if you can find the twenty-odd painted walls of street art dotted throughout the city.
Cognac (approx. 1 hour drive) – A medieval city renowned for its production of Cognac. There are many distilleries to visit as well as bars and restaurants.
Bergerac (approx. 1 hour drive) – A city full of half timber houses, medieval streets and historic alleys and lively squares situated on the banks of the Dordogne river. A treat for those wine and culture lovers.
Perigueux (approx.. 1 hour drive) – A city full of Medieval and Renaissance architecture full of alleyways and narrow streets to explore.
Neighborhood
The village of Parcoul offers a bar/restaurant, tabac and a butcher. The village of La Roche-Chalais is a 10 minute drive from the property and has a bar, a restaurant, an Intermarche supermarket and Aldi shop, butchers, pharmacy, bakery, tabac, post office with ATM machines.
Things to do:
• River beach at Saint-Aulaye (20 mins drive) – sandy beach to swim, La Plage restaurant and snack bar. Double Accro tree climbing on zip lines for all ages from 3 years old and over. Booking recommended.
•River beach at Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne (30 mins drive) – sandy beach to swim, canoe and pedalo hire, restaurant and snack bar.
• Monolithic church at Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne
• Canoeing at Parcol Canoe (5 mins drive) – canoe hire available between June and September, booking essential. May not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
• Cycling – routes across the region for all abilities (marked at VTT – velo tout terrain)
• Walking – routes across the region for all abilities
• Go Karting – Circuit de Haute Saintonge at La Genotouze (20 mins drive) – seasonal opening hours, recommend checking website for availability and booking. There are also other events happening on the race track that you may be able to go along and watch.
• Archery – Dordogne Archery at Saint-Martial-Viveyrol (40 minutes drive)
• Beauvallon near Montguyon (30 mins drive) – sandy beach, pedalo hire, bar and restaurant.
